
The prize for innovations created through the power of the crowd was awarded in three categories: Open.Innovation, Innovation.Funding and Corporate.Innovation. Numerous projects from Germany, Austria and Switzerland applied for the coveted trophies. Three per category were awarded prizes.
With a mobilized crowd of almost 20,000 people for the preservation of the Ötscher lifts in Lackenhof, Lower Austria. Over a period of only 60 days, an impressive 467 ideas were submitted and vividly discussed by the community.
After the community voting, a jury of experts selected the best ten ideas, which will later be incorporated into the tourism site development.
The evaluations of the first idea "Der Ötscher ruft nach deinen Ideen" were predominantly positive. It was acknowledged that the project generated a large number of ideas and effectively mobilized crowd participation. The societal benefits and the ecologically sustainable impact were seen as fulfilled. Although the economic impact remains to be seen, the project was rated overall as successful and inspiring.
The crowd powered innovation award is an initiative of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Crowd in Motion and the Fraunhofer-Zentrum für Internationales Management und Wissensökonomie (IMW) in Leipzig, Germany.
