The prize for innovations created through the power of the crowd was awarded in three categories: Open.Innovation, Innovation.Funding and Corporate.Innovation. Numerous projects from Germany, Austria and Switzerland applied for the coveted trophies. Three per category were awarded prizes.
The project included the redesign of the bathing area in Ramsau am Dachstein to create an attractive and contemporary offer for tourism as well as for the locals.
A focus was placed on reducing energy consumption, with the roof structure and exterior envelope replaced to minimize heat loss. The use of water and air heat pumps reduced heating oil consumption by 83%. In addition, an extension was built for the bathers' sunbathing areas and the access control/EDP systems were modernized.Â
The project builds on an impressive combination of innovation, sustainability and citizen participation. The comprehensive modernization, the use of energy-efficient technologies and the involvement of the community through crowdfunding have created a sustainable showpiece for regional tourism.
The crowd powered innovation award is an initiative of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Crowd in Motion and the Fraunhofer-Zentrum für Internationales Management und Wissensökonomie (IMW) in Leipzig, Germany.
Impressions of the award ceremony and the isn celebrates 20 + 2 years event were captured in the highlight video of the event.
