From January to November 2024, a series of workshops promoted technology transfer and knowledge building for business development in the circular economy, supported the utilisation of research results in Lower Austria and strengthened awareness and networking among stakeholders. As part of this series, the workshops were held together with our cooperation partner Tecnet equity in the accent Makerspace Tulln, where the focus was on innovative ideas and networking opportunities.

Structure of the event series:

  1. Digi Café (01.02.2024): Introductory presentations by experts on the circular economy and its economic potential and discussion on business modelling and cooperation opportunities
  2. r2v lab 1 (19.03.2024): Workshop to develop initial ideas and approaches for the circular economy in companies using methods such as world café and brainwalking.

  3. r2v lab 2 (15.05.2024): Design thinking workshop to further develop the ideas from r2v lab 1 into prototypes using idea posters

Setup and methodology

DigiCafé 2 concluded the four-part workshop series and served as a networking event to initiate projects in the circular economy. The aim was to make resources in Austria visible and create valuable connections.

Potential ESG implementation partners (‘network managers’) were identified for the topics of training, assessment and network platform/project launch. They presented their range of services and initial cooperation discussions took place in discussion islands in order to network participants in a targeted manner.

Results

Four important partners from the Lower Austrian circular economy took part in the event, each specialising in one main topic: training, assessment, project launch and ESG reporting. This meant that all topics in the workshop series were well covered.

The presentation of the partners gave the participants a good overview of the players in the region. Exciting contacts were made during the discussions and potential projects were discussed.
