Promoter: Österreichische Post AG
Österreichische Post AG lives sustainability and was the first postal company to guarantee its customers CO2-neutral delivery - and has done so since 2011.
But the years of the Corona pandemic triggered an e-commerce boom, and with it the number of parcels transported grew strongly. And so did the number of disposable packages that end up in the waste paper container after a single use. To counteract the negative effects on people and the environment, innovative solutions are needed for the reuse of shipping packages. In the spirit of the circular economy, packaging waste from disposable packages should be increasingly avoided and reusable packages increasingly used.
In order to also involve the population in this project, the idea competition "Re:Postboxing - Ideas for sustainable reusable packaging" was launched via our Open Innovation Platform "Greenideas" and a community was built up within a very short time to develop solutions for packaging avoidance together with consumers.
As a successful conclusion to the campaign, Swiss Post initiated a co-creation workshop with experts from a wide range of fields and participants in the ideas competition after the winning ideas had been honored. Here, submitted ideas were taken up and further developed into a marketable service. The idea of reusable packaging “Post Loop packaging” has already been implemented and launched on the Austrian market in spring 2023 - less than a year after the start of the open innovation initiative. You can read about how the cycle of sustainability works in detail here: Post Loop packaging.
Together with the experienced isn innovation managers, your ideas will be put into practice! We are looking forward to your project!
