Initial situation and objective

Vivatis Holding AG has tried-and-tested innovation and project management processes. However, idea management was still carried out in analogue form, which led to fragmentation and inefficiency. A digital solution was needed to connect the 25 subsidiaries and their 3,600 employees.

The aim was to introduce a digital platform to centralise idea management, automate processes, improve collaboration and ensure scalability. Successful implementation would strengthen innovation and increase employee loyalty by enabling them to actively participate in the company's growth.

Methodology and procedure

A digital innovation platform was implemented to integrate idea management, competitions and continuous improvement processes (CIP) and to enable open innovation with customers and partners. Particular attention was paid to creating a barrier-free platform that can be used by employees regardless of their location or device.

In addition to the technical implementation, the approach also included a comprehensive training concept. Manuals and training videos were used to effectively utilise the platform. Particular attention was paid to involving employees without a fixed office workstation. This holistic approach ensured that all employees could actively participate in idea management, which ultimately led to improved innovation and a high level of participation throughout the company.

Success factors and result

The introduction of the platform has created considerable added value by effectively connecting the 25 subsidiaries with over 3,600 employees. This enables the utilisation of synergies, the processing of ideas across company boundaries and the exchange and further development of ideas. A key success factor was the visibility and interaction of employees on the platform, which enabled them to inspire and support each other.

The first ideas competition was a great success. To date, there are already over 180 ideas on the platform, 1800 likes have been given and 330 inspiring comments have been left. The high interaction rate is evidence of strong employee engagement. Instead of the expected 10% employee participation, almost 650 employees have already actively participated, which underlines the effectiveness of the platform. In addition, 941 network connections have already been established, which further promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing. These results clearly show the positive influence of the platform on innovation and employee retention at Vivatis Holding AG.
