Initial situation and objective

The Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) planned to introduce an innovation platform to connect students with each other and promote their creative potential. The main objective was to create an environment in which students could exchange and develop their innovative ideas. This was to be achieved through the active participation of students in innovation competitions and the promotion of interactive collaboration on the platform.

The ideas competition „Co-Creation Lab – deine Ideen sind gesucht!“ enabled master's and doctoral students to submit their concepts for a new co-creation lab. The platform was not only intended to collect ideas, but also to strengthen interaction and knowledge exchange within the community.

Methodology and procedure

The introduction of the innovation platform was supported by a clearly structured and carefully planned project methodology. Each work package was worked out in detail in advance and monitored regularly to ensure that all milestones were reached on time. Weekly jour fixe meetings played a crucial role in this, as they not only served as a forum for exchange, but also enabled continuous coordination between the project participants.

This was complemented by seamless support, which made it possible to clarify questions and problems immediately. The project manager particularly emphasized that the clear structure and 24/7 support provided by isn made a decisive contribution to the success of the project.

Success factors and result

The innovation platform already achieved a remarkable response in the first few months after its launch: 70 students registered and actively participated. A total of 19 innovative contributions were submitted, which the community was able to vote on directly on the platform. A selected jury evaluated the ideas submitted and awarded prizes to the nine best at an award ceremony in the lecture hall. The jury was amazed at the high level of participation in the competition and emphasized that some of the ideas submitted represented significant added value for the implementation of the Co-Creation Lab. These results illustrate the success of the platform, even though establishing it among the students was time-consuming and challenging.

“We are incredibly proud of our students, who are actively shaping the future and driving innovation through their commitment and education”
