The Managing Board took the occasion of RWTÜV's 150th anniversary to create a group-wide communication channel and to network all employees worldwide for joint work on innovation projects. A tool was sought that would mobilize the creativity of all employees. The goal was to enable the individual companies in the Group to actively pursue innovation management across all locations.
For just under a year, RWTÜV, headquartered in Essen/Germany, collaborated exclusively digitally, and with success: In just a few weeks, the group-wide innovation platform was ready to go and the individual branding "RWTÜV Campus" was developed and implemented.
The first instrument was a Group-wide ideas initiative. All employees from different sub-companies and countries (e.g., Netherlands, USA) were involved in the innovation process and networked. Accompanying training courses on community management and digital communication were held. After this successful pilot phase, the innovation platform was permanently integrated into the RWTÜV intranet and personalized.
The Group-wide pilot initiative was the kick-off for further challenges and for the expansion to include the focus on "continuous improvement processes" (CIP). All ideas and comments are permanently stored on the innovation platform and form a Group-wide knowledge base in which specific ideas from different business areas can be found.
The new joint communication and networking opportunity has been very well received by employees and used on a permanent basis. In a short time, more than 1,900 network connections were established across all sub-companies within the Group. The platform now makes creative minds and dormant talents in the company visible on an ongoing basis. A collective "brain" is thus developing and the creative network is being further expanded with every activity on the RWTÜV Campus.
